Everyone I've ever played this song with wants to rush to the seventh and eighth measures played on the D chord and skip over the D's (in bold) in the sixth measure. The lead is 8 complete measures repeated not 7.5. Play the 2 D's in the sixth measure after the 2 G's and then for the seventh and eighth measure do the tag on the D chord: 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 +

Solo:

A A A A - A A G G
G G D D - A A A A
Bm Bm A A - G G D D
D D D D - D D D D (repeat)

Yeah man I need to 'fine' tune this bad boy - just a bit !

This version of Row Jimmy (11/29/80) is interesting because on the first solo, Jerry plays slide and then on the SECOND SOLO, Jerry backs up WEIR'S SLIDE SOLO before finishing off the solo himself.

It's cool to hear how Jerry plays "rhythm" to the solo:

So our band finally tackled Row Jimmy last weekend and I had to be schooled by our bass player who HAS IT DOWN.

The solo is not exactly like the verse. It adds an "A" instead of a "D" for the last 2 beats before coming back to the "1" on the "A" again.

Instead of:

A A A A - A A G G
G G D D - A A A A
Bm Bm A A - G G D D
D D D D - D D D D (repeat)

it should be:

A A A A - A A G G
G G D D - A A A A
Bm Bm A A - G G D D
D D D D - D D A A (repeat) - (so you have As back to back at the end and the beginning)

And it's that last "A" where people can get really thrown off but once that's understood, it works great. But doing it this way works great and we nailed it every time afterwards. On my way home I was listening to a live version (from 84) and that exactly how they did it. I was suprised.
