yeah I never really liked El Paso either -much rather hear a Mexicali for my cowboy tune fix ....
I do like the slowwwww FOTD - 1980 Alaska run esp .... I like when they all get to do solo - brent bob jerry ....

Just listening to 7/7/78 on Sirius. Jerry solos two rounds, sings another verse, hasn't had enough goes back for Four More Rounds! Sitting here at work and I've got these little tears in the corners of my eyes.

(but good ol' Bobby took care of that Bingo by following it up with the 3, 875th Minglewood.....)

I remember a mid 80's Brown Eyed Women @ The Philly Spectrum (can't remember the exact show) where me and my bud Johnny were counting Jerry's solo rounds...we were wide-eyed when we both shouted 'Seven!' at the same time...killer!
EDIT: Shit, I can't find the show...maybe it wasn't even Philly...Some of those tours are just a blur today. Now I gotta call my bud Johnny and see if he remembers...oy vey!

All tunes that Jerry used midi for solos. That use to pull at my heart strings. Why Jerry, WHY? Awful!

I think some of you Bobby bashers should just listen to JGB, LOM and J&K for a few months til you realize what's missing musically

Jerry spent years refining the most beautiful guitar tone ever & then somehow felt it would be a better idea to use cheesy MIDI presets as his chosen voice.
Those MIDI sounds sucked at the time.
They still suck but now they also sound incredibly dated.

Honestly, with so many so-so 1st set tunes coming out Corrina was a killer true 2nd set tune. Spacey intro, room to jam, no ending requiring something to jam into. IMO, of course.

Sorry to disagree but the first time I heard Corrina I too thought it was a terrible song for the Dead.

Sorry Strummin'. Deferred to you on many things, but Corrina is not one. I'd forgotten about that tune in the lineup...mostly because there are no good memories.

Corrina is definately down there.

I'll jump in to defend the honor of Corrina. Addicting rhythm, jam-able, better than another cowboy song, eh? I'm usually a self-admitted Bobby basher- cowboy songs, overplayed Dylan songs, "slide" guitar, etc., but some of his later songs got downright interesting. Victim is angular, edgy, dark- "interesting". Picasso Moon is catchy. I'd say he moved up a notch in the Dead's latter years. And for some strange reason in the last few years I've even taken a bit if a shining to some of the overworked cowboy songs. There, I said it.
