We were working on a Row Jimmy and had it about 95% but it was obvious something small was off.

I figured it out, timing on some chord changes that should have been:
A / / G / D A /

Half the band thought it was:
A / / G / D / A

Immediately we hit the iPod, checked out the studio a 70s cut and an 80s or 90s cut and were aligned.

There were no hard feelings, nobody felt insulted, nobody felt like they were conducted, we aligned and grew.
plus, you were right ;) j/k

True, funny, and true! But that's the point I was trying to me. I didn't gloat my being correct nor conduct.

I simply stated what I was hearing and let everyone come to that conclusion by the recordings and their own ears!

yep, no need to be shitty about it. Hopefully you get to play with people with ears and brains and can hear when things work and when they don't and happily make adjustments when they are wrong . . . unlike politicians

Thank God I just found this thread right when I needed it. Just tonight my band cancelled practice AGAIN for the third time in as many weeks. We have a pretty decent gig coming up this Fri. but only me and the bass player seem to give a sh%t. I'm the one who gets up at four in the morning to go to work, gets home at six at night, turns right around and drives a freakin' hour to get to practice, but the two guys who sleep till nine and work out of thier houses can't get it together to practice. I'm done. Let them go back to playing thier beatles covers and thier three chord mindless progressions. Anyone in the Chicago land area looking to jam I would love to hear from you. Thanks for the space to vent. I REALLY needed it.
