I have a 2003 Carvin Model DC127 Guitar
Swamp Ash body, Flamed Maple top, Maple neck and Ebony fretboard with Abalone block inlay.
GreenBurst translucent finish and matching headstock.
C22 Classic series humbucker pick-ups with fully active electronics and a Fishman piezo bridge pick-up. dual/single coil switches and a phase switch.

With the active electronics I have been reluctant to mess with the pups. I would like to Ideally swap out the bridge pup, it is a bit less than warm. The neck pup is beautiful and almost a Jazzy tone, imo.
The neck is super thin but the ebony is super slick, I try to focus on playing lightly. Still i think it gives my wrist fits being so thin, i dunno.
Fit and finish are very good.

I am not really an 'electric guy' but it was a present to myself back when i had a good job. Sort of a reward for alot of hard work.

My basic Carvin advice is to start with a base model and and options to spec it out to you desire. For example if ya like the DC 400W, Start with a DC127 or 135 or 145, then build up the options. At least that was the way i did it back in 2003, saved some dough.
There is more, like what i would do differently but I am not thinking clearly so I will let it slide.

As I said before, I wish Carvin gave me more options on the neck profile. They are on the slim side and it took me a little getting used to. These guitars are designed for speed shredding.

When I got my Carvin there was no option for different radius necks. I dont even know what mine is?
Now the have 3 options for the average 6 stringer. A 10 12 and 14 inch radius. the higher the radius, the flatter the fingerboard, I would guess mine was a 12 or 14.
Shredariffic. I do like more of a baseball bat thicker neck, prolly why my acoustic gets so much play.

One often overlooked Carvin benefit no up change for a lefty. I am not a lefty but I like the fairness of them costing the same. I dunno.
