Sweet spot found...a little tone, EQ, and amp adjustment and all is right in the tele world. Just a little frustrated with my playing the other day I think. I would still like to do some mods, although maybe I'll just leave that for another guitar, and leave this one alone. Thanks to everyone who makes this site the best!!!!

Think it's be worth putting a Dimarzio Chopper (from what I'm reading it's the closest to an SDS-2 in songle coil size?) in the bridge and staying with my stock pups on my American Strat? Also...how should I let someone know what I want in setting up my guitar? The last time I got my guitarset up (the way it currently is) the dude made it too low and bending anything beneath the 5th fret is really difficult. thanks

Regarding setup I see there are 3 main requirements:
1 - listen to your needs as the player
2 - advise how they can or cannot be implemented
3 - proper setup

Honestly, if you have a tech that won't listen to you nor advise you properly find somebody new.

My local shop has a tech who is talented. If all you want is a shredder guitar with insane low action that buzzes badly but you'll never know because you have to play it through a high distortion amp. The dude cut my nut (sounds bad, huh?) so low that I needed to get it replaced and the neck's relief was just freakin' off and didn't feel good at all.

Took me a few trips around before finding somebody 50 minutes away who does good work.

Where are those videos of Jimmy Herring? I met him recently and asked him about his new Strat-like guitar with the two humbuckers. I wrote done all the details and can post them. I also have some great up-close videos I took of him playing that guitar.

That would be great if you could post it. I've heard alot of people say how nice of a guy he is. The video is a Guitar World vid, I'ts probably on YouTube.

He was work Oteil Burbridge. They were both very nice.
