its absolutely '80 to '83.... by the way jerry's rippin' into it. there seems to me to be a period there right when brent joined up until late '83 where jerry was reaching ludicrous speed... not the fanning shit, but just rippin into it. he would reach this speed, mainly during improv jams and just go until it fizzled.... this little jam has some of that for sure.

1985 had some shows just like you described.

check out 6-25-85 as an example...

Sounds like something they might play between Estimated>Drums or Terrapin > Space > Drums, just based on the effects on the guitars. It also sounds like a 1987 show or at least within a year or so of 87.

not sure what show its from, but i can definetely recognize a crazy jam from "playin" any time i hear it. Ill look through my library but theres soooo many shows where playin went into drums lol then again it could even be just a playin jam, hell for all i know it could be half an hour into a dark star jam. its in the same key as so many things. definetely sounds like playin though, k ill shut up now and let you know what i find.
