Hmm well someone said Deal is not difficult because there is only one odd chord. Well I dont know about anyone else but that one chord isnt difficult but solo'ing over the progression is. As for Help>Slip I remember it all (i have a damn good memory. Its not cuz im good...cuz im NOT lol) I can play it realllly good if I play it by myself. Second I put the dead on in the background i miss a beat here and there. But for the most part its not too much for me. I dont find many dead songs hard to strum to but as for solo'ing I find a good amount tough. Lets see Eyes, Estimated, Dark Star and many many more. As for the most fun. Well hell I have fun with tons of em. Casey Jones, Dark Star, Bertha, Here Comes Sunshine, Bird Song, China Rider. Too many to list really.

the most difficult stuff i play has to be my own leads. some hard songs tho are:

meat by moe.
brent black by moe.
lonesome fiddle blues (this version is by SCI)

none of these are too difficult, like i said before the most technically advanced stuff i play are my leads.

i could a one point play all of YEM, but then i tripped shrooms and tried the next day and couldnt do it, havnt tried since

right now, Alice's Restaurant, it's a bitch to sing 18 minutes of great lyrics and keep that long three finger progression going, I used to have trouble with help, but I found voicings that are easier to play and still sound great.
alot of songs will always be harder to play by yourself, with a properly schooled and intelligent musicians, you have the option to not play, minimalism is the key to proper band play.
I'm studing Stevie Wonder these days. Sir Duke is actually easier than it sounds, but you have to do it perfectly with the entire band every time, or else the interlude doesn't work.

Boogie on Reggie Woman (the original, not the phish version) is pretty tough, I honestly thtnk (IMOHO) that phish's version is a travisty.
as far as the dead goes, box of rain. It's in no way, shape, or form a hard song to play, but the progression changes slightly in almost every verse, and it's a real pain in the ass to remember every single nuance while your playing a show. the upshot is that most people won't realize you hit the wroge variation of said chord. as long as the bass notes match the singer can hit the right note and nobody notices.
Danny Boy is also a real bitch to find the proper voicings on with a guitar, I could always make it sound good with a piano, but with just guitar and vocals, it much tougher to find voicings I really like, of course with a good irish singer it doesn't matter what voicings you uses, the audiance will love it, but even with a good singer, I have yet to find chord formations that I'm really happy with.

one final note, Lools like rain is tough on the wrist (if your using the proper voicings) I can get throught the tune no problem, but I always have to play a non-barre chord song after it, just to give my wrist a small break

Most people in this chat are mentioning the more extended stuff as the hardest to play...

I always found Ship of Fools to be the among the most difficult. There's no space for fudging it in the more heavily arranged stuff.

I agree with you. Since I'm definitely an ear player on guitar, getting confused with too much theory, listening to Jerry's playing at least gave me some good ideas on how to handle that progression.
