yea well we did smoke the biggest fatty ever with Vince that night !!!!!

Quite a bit off topic, but I couldn't resist when seeing this pic. I went to college at Western CT ST U. We put on a few concerts (including Dylan). Our 2nd year was a complete bust....might have been 50 people out there in grass. We had a comedian between bands. He was ok, but my memory is when he told this one really bad joke and the few people that were out there all groaned. He retorted, "Hey, if they were all good I wouldn't be talkin' to a fuckin' field!"

CNYer's greetings. I grew up in Barneveld NY, right at the foot of the adirondacks. There was a local music scene in the later 80's early 90's and tons of deadheads. now who knows, i moved to NYC after college. If it is all ska and hardcore that would suck.

Oh yeah, forgot Y&T, knew some guys in the band (Joey & Leonard) when they were first called Yesterday & Today.

i hope central ny leaves me real soon.

every band here now is either ska or hardcore. not a big fan of either genre. mostly there is NO music scene if you're anything but ska or hardcore.

we have nothing to do here, a few malls, but i hate malls.

i dont know any deadheads phish phans or anyone AT ALL connected to the jamband scene in a level beyond "i like to go to phil lesh concerts to do drugs"

it just sucks here

I'm from Buffalo, and i am headed back there real soon, begining of Dec. mostley for the music scene. Gotta love the city of good neighbors. Moe. is actually from Buffalo, not central new york. They all went to school together at UB and Broadway Joes was one of their first popular gigs. Great bar. Ani Difranco is also from buffalo which is a cool claim. Unfortunately so are the Goo Goo Dolls, ick.
But hey GratefulPhish, there is a really great blues scene all over new york, man. I recommend a Band called the Jony James Blues Band. They throw it down so hard. Their next gig in Syracuse is November 30th, at the Dinisaur BBQ at 10:00 PM. You should definately try and catch them. They usually play for free, and they will play two long sets with plenty of 4-5-6-7 minute jams you wont soon forget. Peace!
