I am not putting down DSO, some really really great musicians, but seriously, I am over it, Jerry is gone it is time for me to move on, there are to many great bands out there with ORIGINAL sounds, YONDER MOUNTAIN STRING BAND,

Tribute bands might be alright for a novelty night out once in a blue moon but they ain't the real thing and they don't interest me.

I am not going to argue which is a better band. I have seen a BUNCH of Phish shows, quite a few Panic shows and a couple of DSO shows. As far as Phish goes, like any band there are certain years or periods that are better than others. I am for one kind of bored with the 97 funk. I do think some really cool stuff came out of it though as far as adding another dimension to the music. I disagree that there was no good phish after 95. Growing up in Ma in the 90's exposed me to lots of phish, so I got to see a lot of the landmark shows. I do believe that after 95-96 that is when they started to drift away from the straight rock your face phish. I still loved it anyway, I think 2003 is an awesome year for PHish, check out 3/1/03 and the IT festival. Great all around, funky, rockin and sounding tight and good.
I am glad Jimmy Herring is with Panic now. I hope he is really making those guys play. I have thought for awhile that Panc was a one trick pony and that ALL of their stuff sounds the same. I have been to some shows and I just don't get what everyone goes crazy for. The music is ok, but nothing has really grabbed me since probably 2000. I really think they should have hung it up after Mikey passed or at least waited until they got Jimmy. The George era seems kind of hit or miss as far as the playing. I think they should try to diversfy their sound a little bt more. I will check them out if they come around, if anything to try and meet some hot girls. Because there are lots of them at Panic shows.

Give me Son Volt and Richmond Fontaine instead.
Yet you would oay to see Son Volt, get real. I saw Son Volt this summer in buffalo at one of the free shows downtown. I think they are probably the worst band i have ever seen-fuckin' hipsters. As for the poll, i gotta go with the mule haynes can tear it up.[/i]
