While "Go to Heaven" certainly is not the best studio album, I really think that the studio version of "Alabama Getaway" is the slickest, tightest sounding thing the boys ever pulled off. It's one of the few songs I never cared for live because the studio version was so ingrained in my mind.

Good point. I never agree that every song sounds better live than studio.
Off the top of my head studio stuff like Cosmic Charlie, Box Of Rain, The Wheel, High Time.

oh man, another tough one.....
Well, my first introduction to the GD was in 1983..... side 2 (vinyl that is) of Terrapin Station. Its epic to me and was the start of this whole trip.....but as far as the ENTIRE album goes I would have to say Workingmans Dead, followed by American Beauty...Its hard to split the 2 up. Beautiful music, great harmonizing, timeless songs...the Dead at their best.

I've always pronounced 'aoxomoxoa' like it's written: Ah-Oh-Sho-Mo-Sho-Ah. In portuguese, the 'x' sounds like 'sh'.

I don't know if this is the "correct" pronounciation, but I found this:
According to the audio version of the Rock Scully memoir, Living with the Dead (read by the author and former Dead co-manager himself), the title is pronounced "OX-OH-MOX-OH-AH".

That sounds better. I'll adopt this pronunciation from now on.
