Same thing happened to us last time we were jamming....my buddy started hearing strange noises.....was blaming it on the amp......plugged into another amp.....same thing.....then I remembered this thread....he swapped out the battery and we were back in business..

I have a rechargeable 9v in my guitar, with an small AC jack on the side. I have a little AC to female 9v cable that I can connect to my battery checker and charger brick. No problems thus far :) I just have to figure out how to go out of my 1/4 inch output instead, eliminating the third side jack..

I run my bass through a compressor pedal and into my amp. A few years ago when doing low volume gigs with my little amp (a Roland Cube 60) I noticed that I was getting a really nice tone some but not all of the time. It turned out that I could only get it when the 9v battery in my compressor pedal was on the way out. Sounded great about one gig in three.
