I'm tossing up using the name "The Neon Light Diamonds" for a future band project. Anybody already using it?

I wanna know why all these good names are already taken on the .com end and there are no websites or bands associated with them. Did someone go and buy up all the good names URL's to just sit on them? For instance Terripin station, Dire wolf, and the like.... If anyone has some they are not using let me know if you are selling them or something. Due to this we either have to misspell the name or go .biz or something. OR just pick something no dead related.

We are steering away from the word Dead, except for the "Dead Ahead" the name that TJ suggested.....

I have noticed a lot of cool names are owned by companies selling the domain names. LAME. (or at least 2 we are considering...)

I think the word DEAD in promo looks, um, odd. Plus I think it'd be a big turn-off to non-heads.

I'm of the opinion that a GD tribute band can easily please classic rock fans too so when I bring my band to a new venue we go cover heavy and get alot of folks happy!

I agree to Strum, We liked Estimated Prophet but all versions are taken by a company that wants to sell the URL name for $900!!!!
I told him he is high. (or maybe smart). We have some cool ones on the board, we just have to think of a few more before we set up our 3rd and final web site. :? .

BTW don't give any member owership of the site, or allow him to host the site in his domain. He may leave/kick him out and not answer your calls. and so does Otis Lotus goes down the tubes, and I liked that one. We also started getting a lot of response under that name around here, but we cant update the site!!!.

PS-Just kidding about Dead Ahead....

Well .... I wanted to call the band something and it turned out that another Kind member ' claimed ' it .....
Not sure if they were using it .... but no biggie - got no band anyway ...
What about -
Clouds of Delusion ? ( kinda Prog rock )
Insect Fear ? ( kinda weird )

Heavy Skies is a cool name

Here's the kicker for me, ready... If you name yourself after a GD you better be damn well proficient enough to play it.

I've seen this ALOT of times.

Are you sayin this is not a face of a JERRY clone?

I agree, to throw yourself as a "TRIBUTE" band, you need to be good at what you are trying to do and at least play your "name's song", or suffer ridicule. Since the obvious dead names are all but gone, we re looking at a few more subtle approaches.

Heavy Skies triggered a bluegrass band name...
"Dark Clouds Risin''" (from OAITW Pig in a Pen).

Yeah, I too have seem a few botched versions of a bands namesake.
