No, b/c I don't use the reverb in that unit. I have a tank mounted on the effects rack too I can plug into if needed, I have gone digital with my reverb, easier to tweak for me..

I like posts like this too. almost all of my ideas came from here in one form or another. Like you all, I built everything myself with exception of the pedals, that is impressive Paul !

Keir's guitar is beautiful, I thought about doing my showmaster like that, but it is already outfitted with some killer strat pkups and tones, no need to improve that one. My next step is to get a hand made guitar, I have been planning on making one myself, but I get so use to the guitars I play, I don't like to switch around much. I'll have to see how it turns out and if my skills are worthy for guitar making, otherwise I'll have to call Thomas, I really want a AM Beauty Classic.

I love the Rocktron, I really do. Plenty of power, very musical sounding, and the resonance and definition controls work exactly as advertised. Combining it with my SMS Classic Preamp w/JG mods gives me the “portable Twin Reverb”-type amp I’ve always wanted. I can’t imagine anyone being unable to dial in his own sound with this unit. It's definitely heavy for a 300W SS power amp, though (I'd guess 18-19 lbs.).

Very cool Paul. I dig the old amp. What made you think to go that route? I love how we make great use of old stuff with these rigs.
This is a great thread. It's cool to see everyone else's stuff and ideas. I love it here....I'd never be where I'm at with my rig and playing without all the invaluable info I've gotten from you all here. I encourage others to post.

What gave me the idea to get an old amp like that was an article in Vintage Guitar Magazine. The article was entitled "Get a real vintage amp for under $200" and I was interested in getting a tube amp but tube amps are pretty expensive so I read the article and it had a lot of really great information on how to get a real vintage amp for cheap. The guy who they interviewed for the article said that back in the day a lot of film equipment and audio equipment had tube amps in them, he also mentioned that in the 40's and 50's many manufacturers used the same parts, for example you might find an old jensen speaker from an old film projector cabinet that would be the exact same speaker used in a fender amp. The article suggested looking for amp chassis taken out of old equipment such as radios, TV's, old organs etc and having minor modifications done to make them guitar ready. In my case I had a grounded plug, fuse, switch, in/out jacks, volume and tone controls and a few caps switched out and it was ready to plug in. All in all the amp cost me about $130 and it is a real 50's amp with original tubes etc. The enclosure actually cost more than the amp.
