I love the subtle delay on Knockin' on Heaven's Door.

Jerry DID use a MXR Analog Delay. Back then they were larger and rectangle size. Today you can get the same pedal, now in the same size as any basic MXR pedal. The old pedals had the knobs straight across. With the new ones it's in a triangle shape. On the the new ones if you turn the Mix in the 12 to 3 o'clock position and the delay knob facing the mix knob up top you get a slapping/bouncing sound. I don't know if jerry did this but it sounds like he did to me. Jerry uses the MXR I THINK in Scarlet Begonias from the 1983/10/14 Hartford show, and he with out a doubt straight up uses it during Dancin' in the Streets from the 1985/11/01 Richmond show towards the end solo with distortion.

Ok. I could kinda hear subtle delay on the CAT from '86 and but couldn't hear it on the 10/14/83 Scarlet though. That Scarlet solo was ripping though and love the saturated "clean" tone he was getting in '83. Delay is more noticeable in the later 80's for me. Especially late 80's early 90's JGB.

yeah I thought it was on the Scarlet due to all the reverb heard on the recording. The delay even if it's subtle, gives you a distinctive reverb to your sound.

I guess I've been listening for actual repeat delay. The extra reverb effect that those analog delays can give is a nice and useful effect. I just haven't had the pressing need to buy one yet.

Ok, it's big time on that She Belongs to Me but I don't hear it that much on earlier 80's stuff. To the point where I don't feel the need for one.
