Bo was a little gruff with the band especially the bass player. After the show Bo charged folks $5 for an autograph, including my band mate who stood in line with his strat, a key, and $5 and Bo scratched his name in the guitar with the key and took the $5. Wasn't an a-hole or anything just pretty funny.
I saw Bo Diddley at Penn's Landing in Philly back in the late 80's, he must have inadvertently hired jazz or studio musicians to back him up at the gig. The bass player and drummer had NO CLUE how to play the Bo Diddley beat (it was painfully obvious to most in the audience)! Bo kept glaring at the bass player and drummer who were just lost and out of their league.

Bo's patience quickly ran out  and he went back to the drum set, snatched the sticks from the drummer and proceded to do a drum solo and playing the Bo Diddley beat for the drummer to hear. The audience went wild! :P . Eventually the rythym section came around and stumbled through the tunes.

But Bo sure was pissed!!

When I saw Bo here in town he used a Boss auto-wha pedal (I think it was a T-Wha pedal) throughout most of the gig. He seemed to really like that sound. A buddy of mine won tix on the radio for that show.

I had to post one more classic from one of my baseball heroes, Earl Weaver answering fan questions:

My two rules for improvisation:
1. No note is wrong if you get off it quick enough
2. The right note is only a half step away
