This is the Wolf Inlay.
I am waiting for the inlay guy to finish up ; then the inlays go to the builder to be set ; then he will assemble and put his finish on it .....

Nice!! Is that the guitar Wolf is based on?

I am new to the forums so pardon the newbie question.

He is building it .....

I don't think Wolf was based on an Ibanez - but since they are both through-neck designs the Ibanez MC's make good project guitars.

Tennessee Jedi's project is what kept me from spending a load on re'sellable vintage MC300's - mine are pretty banged up and just asking for some love, attention and modification

I would say the Ibanez is more based on the Wolf not the other way around.
In reality they are both Strat body SHAPES ; Neck thru ; "hippie " sandwich's.
My '77 Ibanez was $380 or $480 or something ; kinda cheap ; off e bay.
The finish was destroyed.
The pick ups sucked. The tuners were shot.
Jerry broke Wolf out in 89 I think .... I am basing mine loosely on that incarnation of Wolf.

rehabbing a guitar is a good way to go
not the only way ....
get a beater .... cheap .... experiment ....
I like the sound of your Ibanez hoard JKSTRAW.

Would an HSS strat work? I ahve seen posts about humbuckers, but I would need that middle pickup to be a single right?

As for a Jerry Guitar, those are real nice guitars and you can nail a Jerry tone on any guitar, but some a "LITTLE" easier than others. If you are in the beginner or the first stages of intermediate, I would look into the Made in Mexico Strat's or a guitar around $500 and get some other tools, like good pickups,pedals, or an amp to get you the closest. Jerry can be done with any guitar (Technique is 98% of it), but strat's are easy to modify pickups, put humbuckers, or a mixture of singles and HBKRS. If you like the musician, go for it, maybe go to the music store around town to see if you like the feel of the guitar. I wish I had 1k right now to get a guitar, I would get a good strat mexican or american and modify it with 3 humbuckers. I saw an SG on Ebay with 3 humbuckers for around $300( epiphone). Thats what Stu from JGB plays, well his is a gibson.

If you put a DiMarzio Super II in the middle -- which you'll want to do eventually if you really go after the Jerry tone -- an HSS Strat would be fine.

I think most of the modern Strats are fully routed out beneath the pickguard, so to switch from a single-coil to humbucker only requires cutting the pickguard (most people going this route will just remove the stock pickguard with its attached electronics and pickups, and put the new components in a new pickguard. That way you can go back to the stock guitar easily, if, for example, you decide to get a nice Strat and want to put the Jerry electronics in it and sell the cheaper one.

Hey when you say "modern" are you saying american? I have asked the local Fender guy about the under pickguard route and of course he said; why would you want to know that? Of course. Im thinking about the Squiers and cheaper ones? How do we indentify the "bath tub" route?
Oh...and I just picked up an Ibanez Mc500...well its on the way anyways!!!!

The squire I just bought has a HSH route under the pick guard. I thin that's the way they're comin now a days.

JB that is what I thought, I was also looking at Mighty Mite and others for that route. ITs out there!
