Can you give an example of Doin that Rag bluegrass style? Do you mean the way Keller Williams does it or something else?

I was goofing around with it playing it real fast and the band was amuzed enough to do it that way live and it's stuck ever since. We had it on our website in the player but it's not there anymore...but, if you want to hear it, just go to the site and follow links to some of our shows and find a show with it on it, as I'm certain there's one there somewhere on Archive....it'll be titled Doin' that Bluegrass Rag. Lemme know what you think.

I like Mississippi 1/2 Step and Ramble On Rose to sing I like to play Let it Grow, Help on the Way (I guess I like diminished runs). But much like how I view GD songs - the ones they play well were my favorite, the ones we play well are my favs.

Probably my most fav songs to perform are original material.

lol - I feel you on Scarlet - I have the same issue with that tune though I love the song.

We do New Speedway -> Truckin' -> Speedway too - love those 12/8 grooves in E - also throw in Bird Song sometimes too

Love some Terrapin - only get to play it when we have our old lead singer in town from his teaching gig @ Penn St

I've loved "Don't Ease Me In" ever since I've had 4/1/84 ingrained into my brain... (since around '85 or '86)

There is only one good version of Day Job that I can vouch for. 9/15/82. Listen to the whole first set and tell me *that* Day Job doesn't totally smoke. It's actually on fire. I just ignore the stupid chorus and listen to the music as music. It's good. Check it out.

I can't believe you got me to listen to "day job".

I like Day Job. And Samba too! Seems many folks truly touring in the 80s got burnt out on Day Job which is understandable. And folks with many years of GD concert experience not liking Samba. But I can't really understand dudes who got on the bus in the 90s having the same contempt. Samba was a HOT song live and got a great response in 94. Day Job was a the perfect blend of electric and Bluegrass musically and Jerry loved it! I loved hearing the big man happy!

I never got a "Day Job" LOL! but I did get tired of Samba. I dont think its because its a bad song, although I still FF when I hear it. I think the simple problem with these tunes was that they were overplayed. Which is really not true if you look at Deadbase. Samba comes in at 38 and Day job at 57, take that Me & My Uncle. but that was overall not by year so if you were on tour in a specific year you could get burnt on a particular song.
