Not sure why it sould cost that much Keir to get the electronics right, they are pretty close in this particular example. Dont get excited though I tried to buy this guitar from Phiga several months ago, and got no response. There are a couple other really nice looking guitars on his site but alas he is hard to reach.

When I got my Phiga Eagle I had to buy all new pots pickups and buffer, put a new brass nut on the guitar, rout under the cavity cap as well as for additional input jack for the OBEL. The price of the pickups are anywhere from $150-$200, $50 plus for the nut, $150-$200 for the routing and wiring? I also bought new brass knobs from jackofroses. I guess my estimate was high. Either way you will need to put some money and more that $400 into it. I can't believe you got no response. When I spotted my old Phiga Eagle I emailed him and got a response that day. It’s a shame this guy refuses to talk on the phone.

Right on, that would be mine! (or at least one like it). According to those that know, His electronics are getting better, he is a wood guy first. We have been going on for a few years now.

FWIW, before I assembled my first Jerrycaster (Warmoth neck and body), I tried to order one through Phiga. The guy couldn't even bother responding to my inquiries so I started down the Warmoth route. A couple of months later, the guy emails me back finally to tell me out of the blue here are a couple of completed guitars you could buy. I think he was genuinely surprised when I told him, no thanks, when you didn't respond I moved in a different direction.

Personally, I like the visual impact of his crop circles - they're unique and grabbing - but to place them on the fretboard as he did? The best one can respond is, "It doesn't matter to me because I use the side dots exclusively." The flip side is yes, it matters to the other 75% of your potential buyers (based on my take on the reactions to it I've heard and read here and there over the years).

P.S. Now these Phiga freboard markers I dig - well placed!

The front dots are handy when you're at a jam session and you're trying to show somebody some chord changes. I really missed them for that reason when I had a warwick with no front inlays. Otherwise the side dots were just fine.

I don't see why he can't just put the crop circles in more logical spots.... some people still won't prefer them but at least they'd be more practical...

i think phil is quite a character, certainly not your typical luthier who is making guitars for a living...sort of like the soup nazi on seinfield ( mayb not that mean tho)... if you want what he has, there it is, when you can find him....i think he LOVES those crop circles and thats just how he is....
i have handmade guitars from Troy Post and James Worland too...as well as a bright green Ergojet...if you want to see a STRANGE one, go to www.ergojet.com and check them out....there is NO reason in this world that any guitar player should ever think fender and gibson are the only choices...we all know that tho....

Hah! Yeah, good point... Bobby voicings don't really work well for visual identifcation. That damn 5th string of mine confuses people too.
