There is a very obscure album of Ken Kesey and the Dead at the Acid Tests which sells for a few hundred dollars on E Bay. I don't have a copy but I have heard it's something for completists.

There is a fairly obscure vinyl LP of Ken Kesey and the Dead at the Acid Tests that fetches quite a few hundred when it shows up on EBay. I haven't heard it but the reviews I've read give me the feeling it's more about the historical document than the music.

Wow. I checked some of the ebay stuff. I might have to start selling!! I don't think that just because they ask for it they get it, although I did see a run-of-the-mill copy of an album I have sell for over $200. Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker before Cream. I also have the mono first LP, but mice have attacked the cover, years ago, when my living situation wasn't all that great. They always seemed to find all the good stuff!! I bought a Grateful Dead with Bob Dylan LP once, which I still have, but it is made from a poor audience recording, and is virtually unlistenable.

I have retained a phono setup continuously along with CD and tape for many years. My turntable is an 80's bottom of the line direct drive pioneer table that still manages to work. I did spend the dough for a good cartridge last year - a very reasonable Shure M97xE.
I was going to get one of the Music Halls or Pro-ject turntables but have recently lost my job. I buy used records or are given them, I really haven't come across a band I like enough on the new heavy gram format that I wanted to spend the dough for.
Collecting is one thing, but just playing records for enjoyment is good enough. Dive in, man.
