For a time I had 1 Beyma and 1 JBL in my twin. It had great tone and was like no difference at all. With power and ohms, would I be making a major mistake to run an E 120 wth a K 120? (for experimental reasons)

Ok I will throw in one from left field. I have a Mesa Boogie 50 caliber 1x12 combo amp. Its freaking great. Its a two channel amp with a clean channel that is very Fender like and a dirty channel that is, well, Mesa Boogie dirty. It has great tone controls and a switchable 5 band EQ. Great reverb. Very well made and reliable, and the folks at Mesa Boogie provide great service and parts availability. Even if you NEVER use the dirty channel the clean channel just sparkles. Has more power than a FDR, at probably half the cost. Currently do not see one on EBAY, but they appear there. Also came in a head version that you could use with your own JBL loaded cabinet. one of those is on EBAY here:

I know The DR is the favored beast on this forum, and I used to be a believer too. It is a great amp. The problem is, if you want to keep a nice clean tone on it, you better make sure you have it miked at a gig and running thru the PA. I have never heard a DR keep up sonically with a live band. If it is miked properly then, ya it sounds great. Not everyone has the benefit of a pro sound system or sound tech. I'm sure a lot of guys here just use a basic PA for vocals and their instruments are independent.

I have become a huge Mesa fan. Any Mark series combo. They will stay bell like clean a lot louder than the DR, yet when it does break up, its a beautiful thing. Still very defined.

I guess The DR seems to much like a one trick pony to me, even if its a great pony!!

Peavey classic 30, clean, nice lead channel too.

HP, I played a Mesa .22 with the 5 channel EQ and man oh man was that a sweet combo!

Love the Mesa's. Have heard nuttin but good things about Fargen also.

My girl is gonna miss her first show since Aug 16 of 2008. We are playing this room that is kinda saloon like, unmic'd, and dirty so I am bringing another amp. Not feeling good about this at the moment.
