Please don't make that mistake. I owned an IVP and never was happy with my tone. Gauss speakers on the other hand sound great, IMO.

With that guitar, you could play with a Crate half stack and sound like Bobby!

I've owned 2 IVP preamps and they get a great Bobby tone IMO. I sold them both to 2 different Bobby players and they both are happy and sound great with them. Very late 70's/early 80's sound. But it is hard to dial in that EQ.

My practice amp is a good 'ol DRRI with a Tone Tubby . I had a vintage Twin but got rid of it. Simply too much volume . You need to hit at least 6 before the true tone of a Twin kicks in, but with 2 12's at that volume it's just too much for most rooms. Love the DRRI! Can handle anything from practice to 600 person venue maybe more. Not to mention its WAY easier to carry than a Twin.

Really?! Wow. I owned 1, tried my best to love it but never could. It always sounded anemic to my ears. I sold it as a package deal with my UE400 which didn't give me the right feel and never looked back. The guy who bought the IVP from me ended up selling it I believe.

It's probably very dependent on what else you have in the chain.

Back at that time it was my Soloist > UE400 > IVP > Peavey Valverb > Tubeworks 1160 > 2x12 with Cannabis Rex speakers.

Now each other piece I have used before and after and very much loved.

To each their own! But it's nice to hear others got their mojo working with the IVP!
