Emoto, mine is in the GCX and is silent! That was the thing that sold me for sure. I tried several others and this was the one even though some that I tried were much more money. Even the BK Butler was noisy but when I had that I didnt have the GCX so go figure?

Interesting. I use an effects loop on the floor with a footswitch that I plug the guitar into. Hitting the footswitch sends my guitar signal either directly from the switch to the amp guitar input, or through a loop where my effects are and then to the amp guitar input. This way, I can use any guitar I want to with the loop. In that loop, the EH box made a little hiss/noise.

OTOH, the Boogie MkIII has an effects loop that sits between the pre-amp and the power section, and its output is so hot that I can't get a decent envelope filter reaction with it, but it is fine for a volume pedal, eq, and the EH reverb. In this loop the EH box is silent, so go figure, indeed.

Well, after only 2 weeks of using this pedal, Im going to either take it back or sell it. Im not sure the store will take it back, and I think that is kind of lame of me to take a pedal back 2 weeks after I bought it. Has anyone ever done this? Anyways I found a BK Butler RT Reverb and couldn't resist. I will call the store later otherwise, there will be a brand new pedal for sale.

The BEST guitar place in the city is this place I was at once, when you walk in, if you look cool, they give you a beer. I saw some guys hitting bongs there too, but I had to go back to work, so I couldn't get in on that action. Anyways, I forget the name of the place, but it's here in Manhattan, and they have tons of electric guitars. They have a few acoustics, but it is mostly an axe shop. They seem to have just about every effect, pedal, amplifier or anything else I could think of, and a whole HUGE room of vintage stuff. The guys are really cool, and let me play with anything I wanted, showed me oodles of stuff I didn't know, and didn't put ANY pressure on me to buy anything. The prices seemed reasonable, but I was really just looking for some strings, which was the only thing I bought there, a 10 pack of Fender bullets was like $25, so that was really cheap. I forget exactly where it is, but there is a McDonalds across the street and a Starbucks a few doors down.

Update...I talked to the guitar shop and they are charging a restock fee so, being that I only used it in my studio a few times and there is a ton of snow on the way and the shop is pretty far from my house, if anybody here wants this pedal the first 100 bucks takes it! I have the box manual and it came with a cdrom demo of all their pedals. If not, I will drive up there on Saturday and give it back! I dont think the restock fee is a bad thing, I would charge it too.

To put a pedal back on the shelf? WTF?! I think that is crap. Shit like that kills small shops. That and know-it-all asshole elitist attitudes that some have. Seriously, they need to learn how to compete with their greatest available asset - CUSTOMER SERVICE.

OK, OK, maybe it wasn't quite like I described.

On a more serious note, for the out-of-towners, 48th street between 6th and 7th avenues USED to be a great place for guitars and lots of other vintage instruments. The street has changed somewhat in the last decade, and not in a good way IMO. A couple of little boutique shops there closed in the last decade so there was really only 3 guitar places left: Manny's, Rudy's and Sam Ash. I have nothing against Sam Ash in general, but the guitar place they had there was horrible. They had a poor selection of relatively low-quality guitars, and two of the three guys who always seemed to be there were real a-hole types so I haven't bought so much as a pack of picks from that place in at least 2-3 years. Manny's was a really good store, focusing more on newer stuff and high-end stuff, and Rudy's is really your vintage shop. Unfortunatly, Manny's has now closed and Sam Ash has taken the space (the inlay on the sidewalk saying "Manny's" is still there though).

The sad part for me is that I will probably buy a new axe in the next year or so, and Manny's was the first place I was going to go. Rudy's is fine, but the staff is a little snooty, the prices are really high, and I don't have the knowledge to really get into something vintage without some serious help. Ah well, I'm sure I'll figure it out somehow.

The funny thing is, I did try to start a short chat about why I was bringing it back. I mentioned the Butler and the guy was like, who cares and why would you buy that old rack gear. Little does he know that the new reverb is not only better but this thing is like new! I really prefer online shopping these days for gear just simply because once you mention mods, or custom work or GOD forbid the GD you are usually S.O.L. Score one for me!
