I saw them once at Red Rocks and just couldn't get into it - I tried... The scene was cool and it was certainly fun for that alone. But the music didn't captivate me.

I saw them once, with McConnell, and enjoyed it - outdoors in the summertime and dancing around etc., but my wife and daughter have a few of their albums from different periods (pre Herring) and I just don't really dig them that much. Funny though, one of them, 'Ball" I think, has a song - something about "Heroes", kind of reminds me of the Airplane.

This will be the 5th Dylan show I have seen since 86. He has been brilliant, he has been undecipherable but he has always been Bob Dylan. Literally the voice of his generation.

How was the show? I have seen Dylan probably more than a dozen times over the years and he is playing here in Denver this Wednesday. I'm on the fence about going and wanted to get your review of his show in Vegas to help determine if I will see him again. Thanks

I love the ABB, but WP doesn't do it for me, either. I have a few friends who are way into it and it reminds me of myself in my younger days with the boys, but maybe since I already did that, this doesn't hold it for me? Haven't seen them with Herring, though.

I saw Derek Trucks quite a few times and I used to think he was overrated, but he's gotten way WAY better! Maybe it was touring with Clapton, the constant ABB schedule, or whatever, but his playing has improved so much, IMHO.

Oh, and I just saw Dylan a couple weeks back and he was excellent! Having seen him 20 or 30 times previously, I must say, it was really worth it. He was happy, even winking at his band, he sometimes played only harmonica, or just sang. Only plays guitar on about 4 songs, but plays organ on many. Charlie Sexton is back with him and they are having fun! The set lists are good, and Dylan is in fine form, and his voice is gravely, but better than I expected.

I dig panic man. wasn't that into phish so I did panic tour after Jerry passed (starting in 97) I felt the warmth of the family on the lot (unlike phish at the time) Houser was underrated I thought, George blew chunks, and Jimmy rips! As far as Schools he brings the thunder, and I would put him right up there with Phil. J.B. is a great front man and is full of soul, kinda reminds me of Brent!

I also did some Panic tour after Jerry, I agree about the scene way better than others. I am going to see WSP in Milwaukee this coming weekend if any Kinders are going to be there pm me I am from the area.

Coming from a 16 year old, I LOVVVE Panic. I didnt really get into them untill I saw ABB and they just blew me away!
Ironicly, I was friends with Jimmy Herrings son before I knew that Jimmy ripped so much. Maybee We can all jam sometime...His son plays bass & guitar with me.

Dylan lives shows have always been a little hit or miss - I've seen him a dozen times or so - some totally awful like show here in Blacksburg with G. E. Smith playing guitar (IMHO very overrated as a guitar player). Some pretty good - with the Dead in Eugene, OR 1987 and with Dead and Tom Petty at RFK in '86 (Dylan and Petty pretty good, Dead were awful at this one). He did a show here in Blacksburg a few years ago with Larry Campbell that was flat out spectacular from beginning to end. His best live stuff was with The Band never quite had a band that suited him like that before or after - was too young to see any of those shows.

WSP & Jimmy Herring? I had not heard he was playing with them. He is the man, and a real nice guy. I'm sure they sound great with him. I've only seen 2 WSP shows - one at a bar here in Blacksburg right before the signed with Capricorn Records and took off. I thought they had a great rhythm section but needed a lead guitar player. Saw them again a few years ago in Salem, VA - dunno who the guitar player was if it was the original guy or someone new but thought the rhythm section was still badass and the guitar was much better. I'd like to see them with Herring on guitar - he's been one of my favorites since Col. Bruce Hampton and the Aquarium Rescue Unit hit the scene. I remember doing a gig at the frat of a small southern college and they were playing in the house right next to where we were playing (Dave Mattews was playing just down the street with Tim Reynolds before they really hit it big). Herring totally blew my top off at that show - the guys we were playing for got kinda pissed 'cause we took a loooooong break to check them out

Oh yeah their "lead guitarist" problem is solved for sure. I remember at the last show I saw I didnt know that Jimmy played either and was like HOLLLY CRAP is that Carters dad? Man he is insane! haha

I remember it was like 100+ degrees that day. It was brutal on everyone.
