Hard to see the harm if the guy just swaps out the whole pickguard/pickup assembly for another one. Not sure if routing would be necessary. The original part could simply be swapped back in to return it to stock any time.

If I can ever get my jamming buddies over to play again, maybe there'll be something worth sharing, I dunno.

Humbuckers he asked about could maybe require a route in the git ....

I got my guitar In December 2007 do you think it has the swimming pool under the pick guard? I would like to get the SD- 2 but I am debating on what position yo use, right now I have stock pickups I mainly use the Bridge and middle combined for most of my solo's I don't really like the super twanginess of the the bridge pickup, And would an SD-1 in neck position limit me on what I could play? because aren't sd-1 overdrive?

If you're looking to do a relatively "non-invasive" upgrade to a strat, take a look at Dimarzio pickups like the Choppers or Fast Tracks. They are humbuckers but the same size as a single coil pickup. The specs on the Choppers are reall y close to the Super II's.

they also make strat sized Super Distortions

so this is the loner guitar I had while my PRS was in the shop, those are SD1's and no it's not a strat but it had a pretty good sound. Not really like the Tiger but very similar to the 1972 strat sound.

I am having a Tiger custom made by a luthier here in town. It is being built around my very own inept fingers so it should feel better. It should be done by the end of the year and I am going to sell the strat to pay for it. Should be close to an even swap - the Tiger is $3800.

Would you guys recomend the DiMarzio Super Dist bridge PU for my tele? Or should I just be looking for a strat to modify. I like the feel of my tele, just a little twangy for the tone I am after. (Garcia type tone) Thanks for any feedback

For Jerry from a Tele, you might want to try the Voodoo 60s pickup. I find it really sounds like 71 and 72 Jerry. Try voodoopickups.com. I

Send Brad Sarno a PM (SarnoMusicSolutions) ... he has a Jerry-ified Telecaster.

Thanks for the replys.....yes I roll off the twang, but it is a really fine line between ice pick and muddy tone especially in the bridge position. Hard to find the sweet spot.
Just got back from a vintage music shop here in Pensacola, and really liked a Ibanez musician i played. Seems there are alot of different models...need to educate myself as I am not very familiar.
