I think your right SS about less songs, equal mic time. We find the same thing in our band. It seems like there is a lot less songs to choose from for Lenny( our Bobby) to sing. Jerry songs seem much more plentiful. Gotta love Bobby's originals though. They are typically more interesting to play for me. A lot more technical. Jerry seemed to play straight melody a lot less on these(LL, LLR, Estimated) and played more modal structures.

in the early 80's everyone was making barn yard animal sounds through out the song, pretty fun and cool,.. i guess

Rooster was at least a rare opportunity for Brent to steal the show with a monstrous B-3 solo. I remember an amzing one from Alpine 87... I dig the Uptown Th 8/19/80 version too.

I know there were fans of those songs, but fwiw I totally went to shows to see Jerry rip the jams.
I don't find myself crusing Archive for many Brent B3 solos let alone CC Riders or LRR's (I do cruse quite a few LLR's though ), but that's just me, no worries.
Those straight blues tunes just didn't get to the Jerry magic I was/am really into.
Outside of a few jems like Tore Up and a few others, I never thought of "slow to moderate tempo, straight blues solos" as Jerrys schtick.
I totally enjoyed watching him (Jerry) play slide on a few tunes over the years, though. I think those were all JGB shows.

Jerry was SUCH a tasty slide player. Faves are the intro to WRS and Passenger. Bobby played so much slide in his rhythm parts (check out the NORML Scar>Fire). Yeah, on LRR, if you timed it right, you could leave after Brent's B3 solo, pee, and come back in time for Jerry's slide solo - which ripped.

Anyone have an Archive reccomendation for Jerry playing slide on any WRS's or LLR's (slide guitar, not Pedal Steel)?
I know the original studio cuts were done on Pedal Steel.

Any Archive rec's for Jer playing slide guitar on any song? Been a while... I'd like to give his slide playing a listen.

I seem to remember Jerry doing some nice slide work on Row Jimmy.

Not a huge fan of either Jerry or Bob's slide playing. Jerry's pedal steel was nice, but when it comes to 6 string slide guitar, for me the pinnacle is Duane. After hearing him first, everyone else is trying to keep up!! Just my .02

Speaking of Duane and Jerry, if you don't know it already, check out New Years eve '73, the Allman's at Cow Palace. JG and Kreutzmann come out about a half hour into Les Bres that transforms into a sick Whipping Post jam, and they stick around for the rest of the night... fun stuff, give it a listen if you haven't already.
