The 1000 people platform you describe was not to commercialize anything, but just imagine if 10 bands showed up and each band brought maybe 40-50 people....plus the musicians, you might get 600 or so there. It was a valid question. You're the man, make it all happen. Count me the fuck out.

Hmmmm, looks like you caught Pappy before he got his morning coffee and he was still a little groggy and grumpy. Hopefully, the rest of his day picked up.

Not to be your Mother again, especially since I didn't get even a card last weekend, but the "outside vendors" thing perked up my ears. If you are planning on having vendors or charging admission (sounds like you aren't, but as long as it has been brought up....), I think that would put you back into permit-land, even if it is private property. I'm sure people chipping in for the rental of the house and the tent over the stage etc. is no problem, even if it is on a per-head basis.

It might not be the worst idea either to give your local authorities a bit of advance warning that this thing will be going on and convince them that everything is on the up and up. It would be better for them to know ahead of time rather than have a couple of curious flatfoots hearing a bunch of music from somewhere unusual and deciding to "take a look".

If people are camping, the tent over the stage doesn't need to be big enough for 150-200 people, just enough to protect the band that is playing and any other sound equipment in use. The people listening can set up their dining flys near the stage to sit under if it is raining or if they are sun-sensitive. Otherwise, they can just chill out wherever they want.
