from where I was standing it was so amazing.
the spotlight was on jerry and all you could see was his shadow.

amazing solo... also my dads birthday!

I can't remember the year for sure... it was either '78 or '79, at the Keystone in Berkley, (or possibly in Palo Alto, I saw them a bunch at both places those years ) watching Jerry with his band. They were doing Simple Twist of Fate, when a young woman, late teens or early 20's, climbed up on Jerry's side of the stage. A stage hand was moving towards her, as she walked towards Jerry, when he turned to her, just as he was singing the last verse, and sang the line "She was born in spring, but I was born too late...Blame it on a simple twist of fate." and she was mesmerized, melted, and the stage hand gently took her hand and walked her off stage. It was so gentle, and amazing... I'll never forget that.

I think '90 Cal Expo show. The crowd is chanting "We want Phil!". Phil steps up to the mic and says"there's this rumor going around that I'm gonna leave the band after the Eugene shows" the crowd gets all restless, then Phil says "well it's a bullshit lie!". the crowd cheers a bit. Then Jerry steps up to the mic and says "yeah, the rest of us a quittin'" He was such a prankster.

I remember seeing Jerry solo acoustic w/Kahn once with Robert Hunter as the opener (maybe 84'). I had good seats in the orchestra section and I could see Hunter looking down from a balcony on the side of the stage watching Jerry's set. It was just kind of a spooky image seeing Jerry playing and his songwriting partner's silhouette in this window frame.
