you can get a new american for under a grand.

I just picked up a new highwayone hss that is built in the USA, that's like $700 or so.

I like it. I have a lot of buzz in the middle and neck pickup, but this may be my old peavy amp causing this, have yet to figure it out.

but the quality, tone and feal is great. I know it would sound exceptional with the right fender amp.

My advice is play as many as you can in the stores!! They all will feel different, even production guitars will have tiny differences you might notice. There are some Mexican mades that ive played that sound and feel as good as the current American made Fenders. The older strats are where you really see the difference.
