Even though the brought it back in 93. I think Here comes sunshine is the one I am most disappointed with being canned. The jams out of that song in 73-74 were perfection. That song could have been so powerful had they kept playing it through the late 70's and eighties.

I totally agree about the jams in HCS. They were super funky yet could go to outer space and back... so lovely

I think the problem there might have been the refrain... when they sang "Here Comes Sunshine" it seems just a bit belabored. I personally don't mind it at all but I could see how straining to sing that song would not be all that appealing.

A wild ass guess: This was a new song for Shakedown Street. They never got around to playing it in the short time between when Shakedown was released and Keith and Donna left the band. After they left, no one else really wanted to sing it, ergo, no live performance.

dude i totally agree, HCS was such a good song and i was always baffled as to why they never did it after the early 70's. Sometimes i think they were so busy touring and playing and practicing that they simply just forget about some songs... and they actually brought the song back on 12-6-92. you can hear it on archive, they open with it. I listen to that version every day. Phil drops it like its hot right at the beginning lol.

Was there ever a live version of Mason's Children?, personal fav of mine being my name and all.

yes, off of the top of my head they played the last one ever on 2-28-70. not great sound quality or performance but historic

Cosmic Charlie! One of the coolest (IMO) songs they ever played. I think I read somewhere that it was just too difficult to play live.

Maybe I'll have to try and learn it so I can find out just how cumbersome it is.

Cosmic Charlie, the few live versions did sound cool!
Ruben and Cherise rocked too!

Hearing them play Easy Wind again would have been cool too!
