yeah, but the Beatles started off as a normal pop band, went to experimental music, and then moved back to pretty much where they started, with 3 minute pop songs.

Where Waits never went back to normalicy, and his progression took easily three times as long as the beatles even existed.

I'm gonna post the Daily Show clip for those of you who havent seen it. Interview and then a live version of "Day After Tomorrow" which is undoubtedly (in my mind) better than the studio version.

I think its great how Jon Stewart, after meeting so many famous figures, still gets flustered when speaking to one of his heros, Tom Waits. He was seriously able to talk to ex presidents and be less nervous than he is this interviewing tom.

I love Tom. I have a friend who put together a Tom Waits cover band. He's a bigger fan than I, and plays all his tunes. My favorite album is Heartattack and Vine because I first saw him on Letterman doing the song "On the Nickel" and was blown away. It was written for a movie, but not used. Also love the title song, Jersey Girl and Mr. Siegel, among others.

If you get the chance, don't miss him live. Saw him a couple years back and it's unbelievable. My wife isn't a huge fan, but came along and was blown away at what a great performer he is. Oh, and not a bad actor, either!

Mule Variations is one of the best records of the 1990's.

Orphans is an awesome set of songs. 'Bottom Of The World' might just be the best song of all time!!!
