PHISH PHISH AND PHISH
I WENT TO SEE VAN HALEN LAST NIGHT....PRETTY PAINFUL BUT I JUST KEPT IMAGING WHAT IT WOULD BE LIKE TO GO TO THE GARDEN FOR A SOLD OUT PHISH SHOW, AGAIN. AT ONE POINT I LOOKED OUT OVER THE CROWD AND WAS JUST SHOCKED TO SEE THE GARDEN PACKED FOR SUCH A CHEESEY SHOW...BECASUE SORRY VAN HALEN FANS THAT WAS AS CHEESEY AS IT GETS. THEY CAME ON AT 850 AND WERE DONE BY 1050. I JUST WENT TO 7 PHIL LESH SHOWS AND THE GUY IS 67 AND PLAYED NO LESS THAN 330 HOUR EACH SHOW. ONE OF THE SHOWS WAS 4 HOURS.
BESIDES THE GRATEFUL DEAD, PHISH IS THE BEST LIVE ACT EVER TO TOUR. PERIOD....END OF SENTENCE.
TO ALL THE NON PHISH FANS...BREAK OUT OF THE SHELL GO GET SOME LIVE PHISH. PREFERABLY A SHOW FROM 89, 91-95 THEN A FEW CHOICE 96 SHOWS ANYTHING FROM 97...SOME CHOICE STUFF FROM 98...AND THEN ASK FOR SPECIFIC SHOWS FROM YEARS AFTER 98. lISTEN TO IT WITH AN OPEN MIND, AND FOR A WHILE PRETEND ITS NOT PHISH, PRETEND ITS A BAND THAT YOU NEVER HEARD OF AND THAT ONE OF YOUR BUDDIES JUST GAVE YOU A TAPE. What i am saying is listen to it with an open mind. The reason i am saying this is becasue one day i had a really funky show on from 97 and my buddy who hates phish was like what this man, and i lied and said some really groovy funk band. Then after about an hour i told him it was phish and he was shocked and was like wow those guys can jam, plus they are extremly tight. I said "yeah i know, there amazing.

God I hate all those long boring "funk" jams they did after 96 or so. And anything 2002-2004 is total garbage. Phish was only "PHISH" from 90-95- inhumanly intricate, danceable, drum-tight and rocking your face off.

I voted Phish, but agree with Tigerstrat on the point of seeing Phish in their 90-95 form. As for current bands and being a mandolin player I never pass on a chance to Yonder or R.R.Earth. MMW is great and I've never had a bad time at a Little Feat show.

I wouldn't pay to see any of those.
Give me Son Volt and Richmond Fontaine instead.

Not true. I was at NYE '03 in Miami for the 4 night run and it was off the hook. And I do know what you mean about post '95, but I think you're cutting it off a little early. There is a ton of great stuff from '96-'98, and also a number of good gems from '00 - esp. Hartford 6/30/00 & 7/1/00 - go to the free stash at
http://stash.nugs.net/phish/00hartford_ ... &cmd=shows and give it a listen....I promise it won't let you down.

shakedown_04092 its not worth arguing. If u like the nasty funk then youll like 97 - 00 phish at least 97 and 98. If you like the old classic phish jamming then you probably are a 90 - 95 guy. But people who say 97 and 98 sucked are just stating there opinion and thats fine....but dont tell me i am wrong you have no idea what makes me groove. By 96 i thought they got pretty boring and needd some kind of change with there delivery of there music. And sorry if you think those ghost that were dropped in 97 and 98 or the YEM then i dont know why your such a phish fan. Dont tell me that the 4 island shows from april of 98 were not sick. Sorry but those are 4 of the best shows phish ever strung together. Thats my opinion but alot of true fans agree with me...and oh if "I" had to choose between the MSG 95 new years show which i was at or the funk from 97 id take the funk.....just like i would take a funky shakedown over a black peter anyday.
HEy its just music and its all in the ear of the beholder...but come on i dont ever want to hear anyone say that 97 and 98 sux because your just plain wrong...and i mean musically...the stuff was top notch. Bring it!! i saw in 94 a lot...95 a lot and i feel like the peaked in 97 becasue of the change in the style of play.
And to be honest i thought 96 basically sucked. but to say that those 4 musicians got worse during 97 and 98 is just ludacris. They were tight as a nun......and remeber they rarely looked at each other and never used cues for changes like the one phil uses. Those spoke telepatheicly while on stage. They litterally read each others mind.

oh and the show i saw at the nassau col on long island in 03 was SICK. Go get it, they released as a album, so i think that usually means that it was a good show.
Somone said after 96 they sucked well glad to hear you think that becasue at least someone who appeciates phish phunk was able to take your ticket. And it also sounds like you think in yor head that they were not tight after 95 and that it just plain stupidity.

Must agree, there is def some great post '95 phish. Clifford Ball both days is fantastic. Great Went day 2, superb. I am also a really big fan of Live Phish 11? 11/17/97 Live in Denver. The Ghost from that show is one of the best.

WEEN!!! i am gonna check them out the first time on Nov 26 in Burlington. i love their recorded stuff and from the stories i've heard their live shows do not dissapoint (weirdness abounds in the audience).
i voted DSO cuz i've never seen them and would like to hear them do their thing.
anybody a fan of Zero?
