Ya know, I wish I could tell ya more about Neil in '86, but I can't. I think he was with Crazy Horse but not entirely sure because the best parts of the show is when Neil was up there solo playing the piano and harp at the same time. I just remember getting multiple goosebump sessions during the show and this chick I went with just summed it up with one word afterwards..."Mesmerizing".

Right around this same time I saw Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers as Dylan's backing band and Tom was given the spotlight a few times. Tom blew 'ol Bob out of the water. The crowd was going apeshit for him.

Went to a great festival over the summer (Dunegrass) and watched DSO put on a killer set. Not sure if it was the best I have ever seen, but between the music and the atmosphere I had a great time.

Scarlet> St Stephen> Stranger, Dark Star> Other One> Drums> Space> Other One> Wheel> SOTM> Miracle> Terrapin> Saturday Night
Encore: Ripple

I understand where Pat is coming from.

Firstly, consider his age.

Too young to see a face-melting dead show.
Maybe missed on on Phish.
Lotsa bands only do festivals these days.

BTW, I'm not a jamband fan, per say.

On topic...
Some of my best shows have been by cover bands.
Phish @ Alpine around 95 was awesome
KISS @ Summerfest 00 was awesome

Top 3

1. George Clinton and the P-Funk All-Stars - sometime in '96. I can't accurately describe how much fun this show was.

2. Galactic - sometime about ten years ago on the patio of Miami's oldest bar,Tobacco Road. I didn't know much about them at the time, but man, it was physically impossible to not move your ass at that show.

3. Umphrey's McGee - 10/20/2005 I have never seen these guys play a bad show. A disgustingly good band IMO.

i try to listen to other bands but i just cant find a spot for them... i love the dead and dso is the closest thing to it... i caught phish 8 or 9 times from 2002 on, just alpine and deer creek shows.. but no i wish i could have seen a face melting dead show.. ive seen some incredible dso shows... the odeon cleveland, 10 hits, ehhhhh couldnt even tell what song was playing until about 3 songs later.... never do that again
