For all you who fall into that camp, would you dial 911 if somebody was trying to attack you, hurt you, or break into your house?
Wavy Gravy says there are three kinds of law enforcement:
1) Peace officers
2) Cops
3) Pigs

We have all met all the types. These guys were pigs. I hate pigs.

ive met 1 or 2 cool cops, thats 1 or 2. probably only 1. i have called 911, i was being attacked by a pitbull and i climbed the roof of an suv. took em over twenty minutes to show up, and i was like screaming for help over the phone. they basically sent an old man with peppper spray....the owner of the dog was in her home, hiding from the police she knew would eventually come. the dog was destroyed, poor fella. crappy dog owner :-?

There was a time when I would have. I helped the cops (local sheriff's dept) catch a guy that shot somebody. They didn't know where he was, and everytime he saw them coming he would hide. But I saw where he went, and told them. After that, my girlfriend's car was broken into and her computer stolen. The same cops didn't do anything to solve it. I had to go out once again and do their job for them. I found two witnesses, willing to give statements as to the identity of the thief. The rookie cop made one attempt to call one of the witnesses. The witness said he would give a statement, but the cop never bothered to take the statement and never made any arrests. Then when she got a new car, some guy hit her and drove off. She got his plate number but the sheriff's dept never charged him. On the other hand, they've had no problem arresting my cousin twice just for being at the wrong place when someone else committed a crime.

So I've done about as much as I can do trying to give cops the benefit of the doubt or respecting them for serving and protecting. I say they can all be heroes and go down in the line of duty.

Dude,

This guy Andrew Walter who got tazed is a huge jackass. Go to his website. There is a ton of speculaation that most of this episode was completely staged. Go to this guy's website, he is selling "Don't taze me bro" T shirts.

And for the record, getting tazed is a lot better than getting the shit kicked out of your face by a cop's boots. So technology here saves the smart ass from a bunch of hospital time.

I've been hit by the tazer (not by a cop) and by the pepper spray (yeah by a cop but it was deserved) and give me the tazer every day of the week. It hurts like a bitch and throws you to the ground but atleast you can breath. Pepper spray feels like death. I've got some friends that are park rangers and animal control officers and for training they have to get a can of pepper spray unloaded on them and then make it out of a room under a certain amount of time. Count me out!

I am 100% certain that I have never been tazed. I've seen two versions of this video, the one posted here was heavily slanted against the police. The guy was clearly begging for everything he got. In my opinion he deserved to be tazed two or three more times for being such a fucking idiot.

That being said I do believe that the U.S. has been turning more and more towards being a police state, and it makes this citizen want to wretch. I have little faith in the police and I definitely think that this could have been handled in another, more intelligent manner, hell they gave the guy exactly what he wanted.

Well put fellas.

Amadou Diallo was shot at 41 times by cops (19 hit him) and killed. This guy got tazed once or twice. He should shut the fuck up and be thankful he isn't dead. I almost feel like driving up to Gainesville and kicking his ass myself.

When you get what you deserve, you forfeit the right to gripe about it after the fact, especially when it is for promoting your blog and boosting revenue from sales of T Shirts.

Interesting topic. I've met all kinds of people but I've only met two kinds of police officers: The kind who went into it because they saw it as a way to better our lives and the planet and the ones who went into it because they were picked on and wanted to do the ass-kicking for a change. Unfortunately, from what I have witnessed the ratio is about 80/20 in favor of the ones who want to kick ass. Like everyone else (yes, even deadheads), there are good folks and assholes. I only decide based upon personal evidence, not youtube clips. But hey, that's just me.

Wow! Absolutely awesome responses! Thanks to those who answered my question! I was really curious and more grateful to this site!

The usual responses from people are cuz cops harassed them or something minor but it's obvious most here know cops, see the diffs, have tried to respect them and for the few it's not working, understandably, for them in their area.

One thing I've always thought about cops is that if we paid them more and required a college degree that more people would line up for the job and there would be a higher quality and more educated applicants who would hopefully resolve situations like this better.

Then on the other hand sometimes it's better to catch a crook with a crook

sorry for the length

when i was younger my mom was a part time cop. she still runs every single administrative aspect of my hometowns police dept. and is treated like shit. she has done the job of 2-3 people for 15 years and when applied for early pension for being in harms way they turned her down. i know she hasn't been in uniform for years, but she goes to many warrants as she has a great ability to talk people down and she escorts many prisoners as well. this imho, is enough to get her an early and larger pension. the problem is the 'good ol' boys' club. she knows the chief is stealing funds among other things while hardly ever doing his job. i tell her to come forward or get out of the job(which she doesn't want to do as she's been there 20 years). she has a problem of being walked all over. she thinks that if she brought these accusations forward that everything would be turned around on her as many of the officers have a vested interest in the chief. also, knowing many cops since i was little i'd say they fall in three categories. genuine hardworking people who love their job(25%), fat bastards who thought being a cop would be a cake-walk and now despise their position(30-40%), and straight out lying assholes who get kicks from power tripping(30-40%). i have seen these boys in action many times and have 1st hand experience with them. during my senior homecoming my buddies and i were heading into the powderpuff game. there was a sophomore who was an asshole who kept parking in the upperclassman parking lot so people had window painted all over his car. we added some to it. nothing offensive or threatening. well the cops show up and this one asshole officer who got caught having sex with 15 year olds tries calling me out as a liar. i admitted i wrote on the car(with paint that washes right off mind you)and stood my ground. we had very poor administration there as well. we apologized and offered to clean his car, which we did. the kid and his parents said no charges should be filed. well the pederast cops didn't care and pressed them anyways. everyone went down to the station and continued the argument with this prick as he continued filing the charges. i ended up going to court where the judge lucking threw out the tampering with property charge and 400 dollar fine. if we had been previously harassing this kid or painted his windows randomly, not during homecoming, then i could see a valid reason for the trouble. just add that to the list of preferential treatments, threats, etc. that many cops do. to those who actually serve and protect. god bless you and thank you from the bottom of my heart. the rest- you'll get yours someday

Both the police and the kid should have used better judgement. The kid should have walked away when he had the chance and the police should not have tazered him. The kid did act like a total jackass and the lice responded to that by stooping to his level.

i second that strummin, just goes to show that you really do get what you paid for. good law enforcment is not cheap, cheap law enforcement is not good. that goes for tattoos 8) , and among other things :D

   Ok, that had me laughing, but for sake of not giving this kid any more airtime than he's already gotten, I hope Trey doesn't pull that one out. Though knowing his humor, he probably will, and I'll laugh
