Okay I am going to answer with bands that actually STILL play .... The Grateful Dead will ALWAYS be my favorite band ... but the reincarnations as well as Phil and Friends and so forth ... well blah blah blah Heres who I like who is out there now ...
Yonder Mountain String Band
Railroad Earth
Honkytonk Homeslice (No String Cheese Trance Set for me, and they wonder why Billy is leaving the band)
Split Lip Rayfield
Hot Buttered Rum
RRE was by far the tightest band at Wakarusa I thougth .. listen to the Warhead Boogie and the space that comes out of it on archive from wakarusa 07, NOBODY hits space like that since the one and only's !!!
Panic absolutely annoys me, Molly Hatchet on acid...
There are a ton of bands out there they call jam bands that all seem the same to me, particle, tea leaf green, motet, perpetual groove, they are all a bunch of wah wah pedal riding wana be George Clintin type I hope I never hear again kind of bands ... not saying there is no talent, but I want melodies and emotion in my music
