when i posted this, faded last night, I felt guilty because it just didnt 'feel' like the right place to post it. however I didnt realize the upcoming gigs and live shows place was right either, since that wasnt exactly what I was promoting. maybe change this forum to the member's bands, anything to do with them, forum

Having been bumming around on this forum one way or another for a good few years now I've seen it build up. It's one of the best forums of any kind out there that I know of.

For me I'd hate to see it overrun by folks just popping up to advertise something or too overcrowded in general. You lose a feeling of who's who and that interaction when have too many people and don't know who they are.

Just take it easy, man. Enjoy and play your music, it'll find a home somewhere.

yeah sorry for being a little harsh , i just saw two "spam" posts in one day and got worried this site was going to become my yahoomail, 5,000 spam mails for every real one

Is that the sound of this thread going away? I think you forgot to say "sorry if this post is obnoxious", not that you'd mean it.

I just want to give people a heads up that this thread will self destruct, Unless we want to freeze it and use it as a good example of what NOT to do on this site.

i thought this forum was for members bands?? why would you not want to let deadheads promote their own band (they might actually be pretty good and people on here might like the music) so long as it is in the right place... . im confused... if you censor the board you limit the boards growth and growth brings new people new ideas new things to laugh at, etc.

He's talking about this specific thread, Prospector. If you want to post an upcoming event for your band, then post it in a new thread in this category, because that is what it's for. But don't bump a dead thread (i.e. - this one) for the sake of bumping it; only bump it if you have something to add to it.

sorry, i didnt know the online ettiqute for "bumping" all I know is I wanted more people to get a chance to listen to my bands music... a shameless promotion... I know...

Rukind has two methods for getting your band noticed. The last 421 dead cover bands across the world have used this site:

http://www.rukind.org/html/bands/bandlocator.php

to promote their band and the URLs like myspace.

When these bands actually get a gig, and have a date in a venue and they want people to know about it, then they can promote it here.
