I just saw Panic at Wakarusa and ended up leaving an hour and a half into it and went to another stage cause Jimmy Herring would not shut the fuck up !!! The guy did an hour and a half guitar solo with absolutely no dynamics what so ever ... he just ripped non freaking stop ... where is the feeling in that .... I saw Jimmy with The Dead once and never went back ... the guy is an acrobat on the guitar for sure , but has he EVER heard of dynamics ??? To me they sounded like an hour and a half of Molly Hatchet on acid !!!! Sorry , great talent there, but no feeling what so ever ... I never understood one word that came out of anybodies mouth and Jimmy moved WAY less than Jerry, the guy was comatose

I kind of agree. I always felt Herring was a great talent on guitar, but his solos never moved me, or at least rarely moved me. He's all over the place, running up and down scales & what not, you know...sawdust flying off his fretboard, but he never made my ass pucker like a Jerry or Trey solo.

PS - Whitetrash Picnic is by far the best nickname for any of the jam bands out there.

I just saw them at Red Rocks, my first time since Michael's death. I never appreciated how much he was the "Panic" sound, but it became clear to me as the show went on. These guys need about another year to gel, if they ever will.

It is apparent to me that this group is not over the death of the lead guitarist, which is very understandable. I do commend David Schools, he was seriously rockin some hard bass lines trying to keep the band together, but the other guys appeared to be going through the motions.

On another note, we got a backstage tour of Red Rocks, which was sweet. The underground tunnel from the stage to the soundboard was loaded with so many autographs, I could have spent the entire concert down there. We also got to cut in front of the line and got 10th row seats next to the soundboard.

Thanks for the stream. I never got into WP, but I listened to the first few cuts ont he stream and have to say it's pretty good. As far as Herring goes, I liked him with Phil & Friends. The August 05 show at the Fillmore in Denver was amazing and Herring fit in really well there.
