I do a similar thing. I use an Alembic F-2B preamp into a Carvin DCM200L into a pair of 1x12 cabs loaded with JBL K120s, one original and one reconed in hemp. I tweak the original to accentuate highs, and the hemp-coned one to accentuate lows. Then I adjust the volume individually to taste. It works better if we aren’t micing the instruments. Running them the same and using one for FOH and one for stage volume is an interesting idea. But, tbh, the rig lives in my studio these days as I usually gig my Quilter Aviator Mach 3. As for stage volume, the Quilter has a line out that I run to a spot monitor mounted on my mic stand. I can get “more me” without being too loud in the mix. And you can’t beat the Quilter’s size and weight.

How is the reverb on these Quilters ? Im eyeing the 101 model. Ive heard folks mention you can get a good Fender clean. Thats all im looking for, then i can use my pedals for anything else.

For those whom own a Quilter for doing the Jerry thing, are their any tips or things you could share with us folks who are on the fence about getting one ? Would love to hear more about these, good or bad.

I have Mini Reverb 101, but I basically just use it as a practice amp and I'm not really trying to get Jerry tones.

Have been wanting to get one of Brad's preamps for awhile. Was on the list for a Spectrum but when my time came, some things going on in life I had to hold off. Also I have never used rack mount stuff and not sure I have a grasp on how it all works, hooks up, etc.

I see recommendations for the ART SLA-100. I have really nice cables that I hook cabs to my head with and would like to continue to use those. It doesn't seem the ART can hook to cabs in the same way? Any other options in a similar price range and new? I dont want to go the used route with a MosValve 962 or Carvin DCML200...

You can easily make adapter cables for the speaker connections. I did banana plugs to 1/4” jacks using 14 gauge speaker wire. You can also do spade lugs or bare wire on the SLA-1 end.

The Alembic F-2B is based on the old Fender Dual Showman preamp circuit. Full clean tone. Takes pedals well. New MSRP is $3300, but they can often be found used in the $900-$1200 range. I've never tried the F2B pedal. One big difference I see is that the F-2B has two channels, while the F2B pedal has only one.
