Get back to playing.
Haha last time I checked guitar players can walk and chew gum at the same time. Just because you are in to tone chasing doesn’t mean you don’t play. In fact chasing tone inspires me to play even more.

But in regards to the thread - I just put together a Nashville Tele with a blender push/pull pot for the neck and bridge. The goal was to have a tele with all the classic tele tones available, but that would also work for playing Jerry stuff.

I put a Dimarzio True Velvet RWRP in the middle position and I have to say - it sounds freakin awesome - bright and thick with just a little bit of hair when cranked - works really well for early 70s Jerry tones and comes very close to the Voodoo 69 tone IMHO

Each of us first got on the bus sometime and how.

If some folks today are getting their first exposures to Wolf through Wolph,

In all seriousness I can't do both (chase tone & get better at guitar). :???:

Somebody on the archive claims they saw Jerry play a tele in Chicago on 8/23/71 & 8/24/71 (!)

You gotta find a balance - I make myself play/practice/learn for at least 1 hour per day - then the rest is just jam etc - tone chasing is more like a peripheral thing - time spent researching online buying/selling new stuff to try out etc.
As long as you give yourself an hour a day of learning something new you are moving forward
Check out Carlo Zakers (Carl Akers) for guitar lessons or his YouTube channel - he’s an RUKind member and serious Jerry guitar wizard who teaches:transcribes - he can help provide you with ideas for daily practice

Here he live streamed an entire session of tabbing out Jerry’s solo on Miracle:
