Try some rubber grommets in the holes where the mounting screws are. My MOD reverb tank came with them and it kinda decouples it from vibrations.

Anyone know whether the tank opening faces up toward the tubes or down toward the bottom of the cab?

My original Twin tank came with a piece of 1/4" plywood mounted to the opening with rubber grommets. I put that side down toward the cab & away from the preamp tubes.

It Bears repeating...output away from the PT.

In all my fender amps the open side was down, usually covered with a piece of cardboard.
