Thanks to all that have offered suggestions about a replacement speaker for my Blues Jr. The JBL is clearly the grail, but I'm wary of buying one from eBay, etc. Again, I'm on tight budget in thinking about upgrading my current amp--a Blues Jr. III-- and don't want to buy a pig in poke that may not last or develop problems w/out a warranty.
The Weber Californias get several thumbs up here and are touted to be patterned on JBLs. There are two flavors, the ceramic and alnico. The ceramic is a full $100 less than the alnico. For those of you that have one of these, which route did you go?
Also, does anyone have any clips of their Blues Jr. in action with a Weber, or JBL, or whichever replacement speaker you think gets you closer to a cleaner, louder, more Jerry-like tone?
