He was a man like the rest of us and also a historical figure. We appreciate having Jefferson's private letters to read today to humanize Thomas, better understand him, and see sides to his character which would otherwise be unknown. Some of us are too close in time and spirit to Jerry to appreciate this fully now concerning him but we, or our heirs, will eventually.

I agree, that is a great analogy to some historical figures that we would want to glimpse into their character...warts and all.
