SWEET with the wood pickguard! How did the pure tung oil go? Tung on the neck also or just the body? I did an alligator ash body with the Wudtone kit but would like to try the pure oil on the next build-

Great looking guitar man! I love the finish....Ive got to try a Tung Oil project soon....

I'm lovin this guitar and it's been my "go to" recently. If you have heard any of my past soundcloud posts, you have heard it. I'll get more up soon and post em.

Anyways, IMHO, the pure tung oil finish is unique and does look awesome.
It is also very simple to use, but a very, very lengthy process.
Wipe on, rub in, wait 15 mins, wipe off, let dry for 2 to 3 days, lightly sand with 0000 steel wool and repeat these steps 15 to 20 times. That's up to 2 months for finishing. Then a few weeks or so for final dry time. Then buffing and polishing. The time is the only draw back, but it's a big one. I wouldn't use it again for that reason. I would use Formby's tung oil finish or Waterlox, depending on the finish desired.

I ONLY used the 100% pure tung oil on the body. The Carvin neck was finished by Carvin. It's a thin satin finish. I think Carvin uses Formby's tung oil "finish". It's about 10% tung oil. They use it for all satin finish necks. Feels great!

It's the overspray for me "o) it goes everywhere! and if you are in a small booth, you need to get in your moon-suit to survive

Yea, there's nothing better than feeling those millions of tiny overspray particles landing on your arm hairs and forehead.
I've been in the little booth with the moon-suit and full respirator. That's true suffering

Thanks, aiq! I love this guitar. I wasn't sure how I would end up liking the wooden pickguard until I put it on. It's a keeper, that's for sure. I think it worked out especially well with the traditional headstock and the ash control knobs.

That looks so beautiful with the wood pick guard! Unique man! I can feel, and hear that guitar!
