Cant comment on the specific tone your looking for, but on newer SGs, I switch the 490T to the neck andswitch the 490R to the bridge with polepieces towards the center
I get a nice clean full sound from the neck and the bridge gives a bit of a crunchy sweetness, without being too brittle
Also, by inversing the bridge pickup you can better adjust your pole pieces
