Backupless... damn. I have a good strat and SG but both are stock and with medium to low action. (of course all guitar action feels low to me so what do I know?) Would either of those help?

Sure, one strat coming up. '62 reissue, US made in 1992 or so, with Texas Specials. You can be Jerry Ray Vaughn.

Newly repaired amp sounded great! Nice and crisp, good pop to the notes, way more Jerry-like. Nice job, RiverRat!
