My step-father shot a 240 lb. buck today. 9-pointer. Not bad, now both he & my mom have gotten one this year. Can you say "venison stew all winter long!" ? :o

Damn, I'm jealous. I had a guy whom I worked with at Duke. He was a big hunter and every now and then he would have some extra deer meat. Great stuff. That's why I wish I was a hunter. I'd love to live off venison for the winter.

i shot a 6 point buck opening morning at 6:40am. he was a 10 pointer with a bunch of points broken off. he'd been in a terrible fight and had puncture wounds all over his head and his ear was torn up. he weighed 165 cleaned so probably about 200 live. my sister shot her first buck(a 4 pointer) along with a doe. lots of venison to eat this winter :-) i was the walker on the drive today and our group got 4 deer. we're donating a deer to a local shelter that collects them. had a great time and saw my dad, cousins, and uncles.

good luck to anyone else going out
