When it doesn't fit anywhere else

As an admin when I see spam I go through the process of banning the user, IP, deleting posts etc.

And time and time again then have to delete a half-dozen folks calling them spam too!

Please, just ignore!

I saw SPAM and was about to ignore it....

But I read your post anyway!

Seriously, thanks for all you do. I know it can be a battle.

I did a few things to try a minimize it:

1> I added a custom field to the user registration that asks a question.
2> I started using recaptcha

3> There were two groups of IP addresses that seemed to be causing most of the traffic, so they've been banned.

We'll see!

Great job, gents.

On a couple of the sites I admin/mod, we've used keywords to filter the spam... but how are you gonna filter "drugs" on a Dead-oriented site?!?!

Thanks JB for posting the vids.

I grew up on Monty Python, some of the best comedy ever. No other tv comedy group has come close except for the original SNL cast.

Note: the first mouse he picks up he calls it the "E-sharp".

I was doomed from the start.....

It all started with anti-war rallies in D.C. with my parents when I was a tot, at age eight with Mad Magazine around 1971, then Monty Python on PBS in 1973, then my first Dead show in 1978......

And now back to SPAM:

SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM
SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM
SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM
SPAM wonderful SPAM!!!!

hell, you use to watch it when they were original episodes every week... Good clean fun, they started the Sat Night Live "push the envelope" stuff. We owe a lot of good comedy to them...Cheers! It was on MTV about 1987.... Adam curry days....
