So, I'd never head of this until I stumbled across it online...The Valentines; they are:

Bobby
Vince
These three other guys I haven't heard of:
Henry Kaiser
Prarie Prince
Bobby Vega

Only played two shows ever I guess, and you can download them here:

Note: I haven't listend to these yet, posted right after I saw the site, so if they're terrible, don't blame me!

Go Ahead

Winter 1987

Bob Weir - guitar, vocals
Brent Mydland - keys, vocals
Jerry Cortez - guitar, vocals
Dave Margen - bass
Billy Kreutzmann - drums

Bob had several short run outings with various lineups. I caught Go Ahead in a barn at a fairgrounds. Maybe 1,000 people. Show was mediocre at best. Billy was bombed and came out from the drums, grabbed the mic and started on some sort of tirade. A good Satisfation was pulled off.

Brent & Bobby... Go Ahead... Brent & Mickey... Valentines...

Was a bunch of quick pick-up bands & shows when JG was down.

All quality to varying degrees when you consider the boys mindsets

I've always dug Kaiser, Prince and Vega. Vega is among my favorite bassists. Do check these guys out.

I don't remember hearing about Brent & Mickey. I do remember Mickey & The Daylights playing at a thing at Pyramid Lake in Nevada.

And I don't remember a line-up of Go Ahead with Bob in it! However the two boots I have are from Jerry's coma recovery period- fall 86.

But you know what they say: If you remember the 80's, you weren't there...

Mind you mine are from an old tour head... When I got them here are some of the things he was telling me...

Brent vented to Mickey often about not playing his material so that's why Brent stuck around into drums often with tunes like Don't Need Love, etc...

Also, that this carried over into Go Ahead.

Bobby, as I understand it, was not a regular in Go Ahead but did sit in with them.

Now, I say all this with the caveat that it's really from tour rumors and old tapes mastered to CD and shit like that. My info may not be 100%. At the same time I highly, highly doubt that any of the "sans jerry" project had solid fuondations since they were supposed to be temporary.... Maybe I'm all wrong...

I saw the first two ever SKB (Steve Kimock Band) shows at the Wetlands and it was off the hook. It was Kimock, Vega, Prince, and Pete Sears on keys. Was my first time seeing Vega and Prince and it definitely made a believer out of me..yes indeed.
