Lately i've been dancin to 3-27-1991 at Nassau. One of the few times the grateful dead performed rubin & cherise, and it is done so beautifully. I listen to it every morning after my coffee and bong. the scarlet>fire and stella blue are also spectacular. Check it out
Today we started Christmas with hot, thick and soulful Reconstruction 7/6/79...
...followed by the acoustic set of JGB 10/28/87 at the Lunt-Fontanne. Lots of ragged-but-right dancing around with my 6-month old daughter...
Now we are on to a smoking live Ray Charles from 1962. Killer live music from the Kennedy era!! Unchain my heart...

Last night had some drinks while listening to Stop Making Sense from the Talking Heads, and today I've been jammin' to 3/21/73 from the Utica Aud, which is like 10 minutes away from my hometown, so while I'm home for Christmas, it seemed appropriate. It also has this WRSP->Dark Star I don't think I've ever heard before.

yeah, the thing I hadn't heard before was the prelude into dark star, but I actually just found another show form that same month where they do it, must have been trying that out before they tagged on the actual suite and let it grow. Another thing about the Utica Aud. show, their playing on the eyes following dark star is great, sounds amazing, but their singing on the chorus...wow, its bad, a combination of a bad sound job i think and them just being off that night on the vocals.
My 9 year old son bought me The Grateful Dead Movie Soundtrack for Christmas!...Magnificent China Doll...the rest of it isn't too shabby either!

12/8/91 Garcia & Grisman at the Warfield. SICKLEBERRY is the word that comes to mind. Joe Craven is the master of percussion. The FOTD is gloriously delicate, as are most of the songs from this show (that was just the last tune I listened to).
Russian Lullaby is one of my most favorite songs ever written and this version is sweet.
GOTTA love when Grisman says, "If you can't beat 'em..." when he picks up the banjo for his banjo duet w/ Garcia ("Sweet Sunny South", if I'm not mistaken).
