I'm not giving no list as it was just done but since work is slowing down I'll give my thoughts on Jimi
no hendrix no trey, or anyone in hard rock really
I think clapton, chris simmons, alvin lee, jeff beck, and jimmy page were doing pretty much the same heavy metal blues thing at the same time as Jimi. They were all taking the muddy waters/ robert johnson thing and playing it loud and distorted for a new white audience. No Jimi then maybe no Stevie Ray Vaughn but hard rock started with Black Sabath and Alice Cooper and outside of the use of heavy distortion I don't wee any Hendrix influnce in their music.
I'm in the camp in that Jimi was a great guitarist but way overated because his style was limited and relied to much on distortion and effects. That and outside of about 10 tunes I don't enjoy istening to his music. But then again Red house a a few others are amazing.
