I also have been listenening to 11-15-71, as well as a lot of other '71 shows. Love this era but damn if every other setlist is the same or close to it.

Just got 3FTV and the Road Trips cd and have been spinning some of that. Still not sure why they picked the show they did for the Vault 3 release...rather unremarkeable IMO except for the novelty of many songs being played for the first or second time.

Road Trips? So so, so far. A lot of the 78-79 era epitomizes what I don't like about the band. Tight, focused, inventive playing one minute then lost aimless noodling the next. Forgotten line here, then over emphasizing the next. Just too inconsistent for a cohesive listening experience. Then there's Brent's tinkie winkie tones. Not saying it's all bad but just not my favorite time for the band. I think there's a monster Jed from this era which is one of the few versions I actually like...wish i could remember the date.

Sorry for all my bitchin', guess I'm going through one of those "Burnt out on the boys" phases. That'll turn around in a month or so.

Tell me about it, I've listened to about 20 in row, they didn't mix it up much at all in 71 but the playing is unparalleled.
I love 20 minute Good Lovin's with Pig :)

I suppose this refers to the Fender Rhodes electric piano?

Ya, try on the NFA>GDTRFB>NFA from 11-15-71. Smokin!

I do dig Brent's funky synth from '79, just not the electric piano.

12-14-71
This may be the tightest I have ever heard the band. I;m on Tennessee Jed, which you can hear Jerry groan"Oh again", but then they proceed to kill it in an extremely tight succinct Tennessee like no other, they are in top form.....

Listening to 11/5/79 Philly now. Smoldering Althea, Jerry Sings "thinking a lot about less and less and forgetting the love we bring" line twice. 23:00+ Eyes....so far so good

1974-06-23 - Jai-Alai Fronton

Besides the obvious wall of sound problems the show is great.
